Ukrainian Premier Denys Shmyhal Resigns
In a post shared on his Telegram channel, Shmyhal uploaded a photo of his resignation letter and expressed appreciation by stating: "Thank you to the entire team for your tireless work for our state!"
In his message, Shmyhal mentioned that he had sent an official resignation request to Ukraine's legislative body, the Verkhovna Rada.
He also extended his thanks to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the confidence he had placed in him during his tenure.
According to coverage from various news agencies, Shmyhal is anticipated to assume the role of Ukraine’s new defense minister.
This transition comes as current Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is reportedly set to be named as Ukraine’s new envoy to the United States.
On July 14, President Zelenskyy convened with First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and suggested that she assume leadership of the cabinet.
He remarked that this proposal signifies the onset of a transformation within the executive sector, intended to enhance Kyiv’s overall effectiveness and resilience.
